About Me
|
I graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Integrated Science Education, and currently hold a Michigan Provisional Teaching certificate. While I enjoy all areas of science I particularly love marine biology and am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Coastal and Marine Studies with NOVA Southeastern University. I love exploring tide pools, snorkeling, and collecting shells along the beach. I like to spend my spare time outdoors - hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, swimming, backpacking, or playing sports. Soccer and volleyball are my two favorite sports. I also enjoy reading a good book and cooking when I have the time.

The world we live in is a fascinating place and I take pleasure in guiding students as we journey deeper into understanding and learning about it together. I hope to instill a sense of awe and curiosity within each student about the world that leads to a love of learning. Learning in my classroom includes hands-on laboratories and activities, collaborative group work in brainstorming and problem solving, class discussions, educational videos, interdisciplinary projects, and teacher-directed learning. I believe that it is important to extend the content material beyond the classroom walls and make connections with students’ everyday life, providing a new perspective of science.
