Class Description:
Physics comes from the Greek word for nature. Physics involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force. In this class we will learn about topics such as velocity, acceleration, free fall, circular motion, and Newton’s Laws. As we expand our knowledge of physics and master everyday applications of the material we further our understanding of creation and the Creator.

General Class Procedures
If you miss a class...
- It is YOUR responsibility to find out what you missed and make it up!
- If you are absent on the day an assignment is turned in you will be expected to turn it in on the day that you return to class.
- If you are absent the class before a major test or quiz, and no information for the assessment was presented on the day that you missed, you will be expected to take the test or quiz the day that it was scheduled.
- You know about major tests and quizzes beforehand, so there is no excuse for you being unprepared to take the assessment.
- If you are absent only on the day of a test or quiz, on the day you return you are expected to make up the test or quiz in class on the day you return.
- If you are absent for a few days and miss a major quiz or test when you return you are expected to make arrangements to make up what you have missed. It is your responsibility to make these arrangements, not mine!
- If you are absent for an extended period of time, try to keep up with the class work as much as possible and upon your return make arrangements to make up missed work and obtain notes.
- If you know that you're going to be absent ahead of time talk to me so to see if there is some work you can do ahead of time. Telling me at the end of class the day before you leave is not acceptable! Then there will be less for you to make up when you get back.
Activities and Labs
We will be doing hands-on activities and laboratories during class. It is important that EVERYONE participates, we all learn with our hands! To make sure that everyone stays safe, all students must turn in a signed safety contract.

Grading System
All assignments are graded based on a straight points system. This means that your goal is to get as many points as you can during the quarter. As a general rule, tests are usually 100 points, homework is 5-10, quizzes and labs are around 20-25. So in 1 quarter if we have a total of 590 possible points, and you earn 485 points you would receive an 82%.
I don't give grades, you earn them!
