To review the body systems we dissected fetal pigs in life science class today. A great way to finish out the unit!

Happy Earth Day!
Environmental science started a project that will make a difference for the environment. Each student has committed to doing one thing throughout the 4th quarter that helps the environment in some way. Some of the things they are doing include recycling, gardening, bow fishing, and water conservation. I can't wait to see what happens! Environmental science learned about the layers of the atmosphere today. The troposphere is the lowest layer where weather occurs. The stratosphere is where planes fly and the ozone layer is located. Shooting stars are meteors burning up in the mesosphere, and the northern lights occur in the thermosphere. These four layers are now illustrated on balloons hanging in the classroom!
We're learning about how water is transported through the xylem in plants. Our celery has become very colorful as the colored water traveled throughout the plant. We'll be checking out the insides during class today to see exactly where the xylem is located!
This chapter, the environmental science classes learned that a soil profile is a cross section of all the soil horizons (layers) in a particular area. This project challenged the students to create their own soil profile out of various materials to represent each layer. Here are some of their creations!
Biology brought in their 3D cell models to share with the class today! Students enjoyed eating parts of each other's projects.
The Biology class symbolically adopted a narwhal through the World Wildlife Foundation which arrived in class today.
Environmental science classes designed and built environmentally friendly buildings. The models are on display in the hall outside the science room. Stop by to see these amazing projects!
